I was out with the kids playing in the yard a couple days back when the canal was being filled with water. It is one of my favorite things to have the canal in our back yard with the view of the Wellsville Mountains in the back. So it is bitter that we are leaving the beautiful views, and mostly bitter because we are going to miss friends and neighbors that have been so good to us.
Since things have been happening so fast I feel like we haven't had much time to work out at the farm. This week we are having the roof re-roofed and the air conditioning and heating put in. We were able to make it out Monday night to knock out an opening in the living room wall and tear up the kitchen floor. I think the opening from the living room into the hall/entry is going to make a big difference in making it feel bigger when you walk in the house from the front door.
While we were in church Sunday, Travis had one of the young men that had been working for us come and ask him if he and his friends could clean out the barn and use it this summer for their "hang out". We definitely were not opposed to that since it was full of straw and bird poop.
| Today we had four trucks and eight kids working to clean all the hay out of the upper part of the barn. |
You have gotta love teenage volunteers :)
| This is their result after about 3-4 hours of work. We couldn't be happier! |
